We're so glad you're interested in trying Karate.  We want to make this as fun for you as it is for us so here are some basic guidelines for you to know about before you come to your first class.

  1. Don't be scared.  We know it can be overwhelming to be a beginner, but don't let that scare you off. We aren't going to attack you. Rather, we are likely going to let you attack us!

  2. Where?  Our dojo is located in the gymnasium of Ecole de la rose sauvage on the corner of 25th Ave and 4th St NW.  Parking is found on the street and in the NW parking lot of the School.

  3. When? Classes are on Mondays and Wednesdays (6:30-7:30 for kids and parents, and 7:30-9:30 for adults).

  4. What to wear?  We train barefoot. Simply leave your shoes at the front entrance before you come into the gym.  You probably don't have a uniform (yet) so wear something you can move in - track pants, sweats, Lulus, and a t-shirt or tank top.  Karate-kid style headbands are optional!

  5. Anyone can do it!  There are NO special physical abilities required to do Karate.  NONE.  No body shaming here.  Old hockey injuries? Inflexible? No problem.  We don't need you to be able to kick to the head, some of the best targets are below the belt!  We all have our own unique abilities and with proper guidance anyone can adapt them to Karate.  Even attitudes can be adapted to Karate!  We particularly specialize in bad moods....just come to class and poof it's gone!

  6. What to bring? Bring a filled water bottle - you're gonna need it!

  7. Have fun! and train at your own pace. We will push you to push yourself, but you will NEVER have to do something you can't handle.

  8. Ask questions!  If you have questions, look for someone who looks like they've been here before. We would love to help you get sorted.

  9. Bring your friends cuz we go for beer and appies on Wednesday.  And if you refer a friend, you will receive a $200 off of your membership when they sign up for at least 3 months.

And in case you didn't know already Karate will be added to the Tokyo Olympics in 2020!!! We can help you get there, if that's your dream.
