The annual Fall Higashi Clinic will be held in Edmonton at the Yoseikan Karate Club from November 17th to 19th 2017.
This is an excellent chance to come out and learn from our head instructor Sensei Higashi, as well as to train with our extended family from other dojos.
The fee for non-Albertan members is $50/half-day, $100/day, $35/kids. Costs for Albertan members will be covered by the ACRKA. All students are encouraged to attend.

We apologize for any confusion around the timing and look forward to seeing you there!

Calgary Chito Ryu is extremely proud of our newest black belts - Seaera Pouliott and Elijah Lukawitski. Seaera will be moving to Vancouver this summer to attend college and Elijah has already moved to Crowsnest Pass with his mother (Sensei Jeannette Lukawitski) and his younger brother Paul where they have opened up Alberta's third Canadian Chito Ryu affiliated dojo! We wish them all continued success in their lives and in their karate!
And as a direct result of this upward pressure from our exceptional kyu belts, we have two new Nidans to congratulate as well - Lynne Buret and Jeannette Lukawitski. Well done ladies...you are shining examples of what peace, perseverance and hard work can accomplish!
We've been sitting on this for a while but now it's time to reveal that we will have a very special guest at our Annual ACRKA Canmore Summer Camp.
Kugizaki Sensei, 9th Dan, Kyoshi will coming from Japan to teach along side Higashi Sensei for 3 days in the Canadian Rockies!
So if you had any doubts about attending this year's camp, set them aside and make the commitment. ALL Chito Ryu karateka are welcome to attend.

I am entering into a fundraising event called Shredibility with the Rocky Mountain Adaptive Sports Center. This is a non-for-profit organization which offers adaptive programming for people with disabilities so they may access different sports they would otherwise be unable to participate in. I am a ski instructor with them and think they are doing an amazing job at supporting this community.
For this event my teammate, Megan, and I will be participating in an all-mountain scavenger hunt as we race other teams for victory. We are the Davy Jones' Daughters, and we will be dressed as pirates! Any support will be greatly appreciated as this is for a great cause very close to our hearts!
Megan and I met through CADS (the Canadian Association for Disabled Skiers) a few years ago and have been skiing together since! Megan is fully visually impaired but that in no way has stopped her from achieving anything and everything she wants out of life. Please help her, my students, and everyone in this community continue to be able to access the sports they want with the help they need!
Sensei Joshi recently attended the 2015 AGM in Toronto where he successfully graded for his 5th Dan! Well done Sensei!
The Calgary Chito Ryu dojo family is very sad to announce the passing of Gavin Fick, a previous member of the dojo, and dad of three children who participated over the years, Brandon, Carson and Lea. We share our warmest thoughts with the children and Patti. Gavin was simply a terrific person, and he will be sorely missed.
